A marketplace

for Creativity.

Visual rebrand for the Unity Asset Store. The Unity Asset Store is a marketplace that brings together creators to buy and sell their tools, assets, and resources to amplify creators’ abilities in Unity.

Lacking a strong cohesive visual language the goal was to unify the brand experience across various digital channels and establish both a new visual system and fresh core brand attributes.

Brand visual system

I sought to build a scalable design language system that would allow for flexibility throughout the lifecycle of the brand. By utilizing 3D assets, we could bring visual consistency without needing to rely on an ever-changing slew of creator assets.

We built scenes that cater to top performing themes of games/assets and the solutions to common dev problems.

There are 2 core types of assets in the system: Worlds & Objects.
Worlds depict themes or larger categories of Asset Store products.
Objects are assets taken from the larger world renders and depict more niche ideas.

3D art direction development

After aligning stakeholders on which worlds would best align with the immediate needs. I collaborated closely with Gerardo Manjarrez, our talented in-house 3D artist to develop the look and feel of each of the worlds. Ensuring a balance of complexity and consistency across each.

Brand expressions

To bring this rebrand to life, we needed to craft brand assets across the board for a variety of channels.

The low-poly art style allowed for quick iteration that could depict both “physical” 3D models found in the store and more technical plug-in and scripts.

This style also anchored the materiality, textures and lighting for a consistent look across all 3D assets.
